First Sunday Arts Festivals - Summer Edition


The First Sunday Arts Festival is the best place to enjoy a summer afternoon. West Street and Whitmore park in the Annapolis Arts District are filled with artisans for shopping, cafés and food trucks for eating and live music for entertainment. It's a great place to enjoy our local and regional artisans with your friends and family. The festival gives you the opportunity to shop directly from 130 local artisans with a street festival atmosphere in historic Downtown Annapolis, Maryland on Sunday, August 4 2019 from 11am to 5pm. You will find artisans selling paintings, handcrafted jewelry, wheel thrown pottery, glass art, clothing, handbags, wood turnings, furniture, sculptures, fine art photography, garden art, and more. This is the easiest and largest place to shop in the area for items hand made in Maryland. Performers throughout the festival will be showcasing live music at four free performance stages including, Weisman Park near the Visit Annapolis Visitors Center which is a good spot to relax in the shade, the main stage next to Stan and Joe's Saloon, under the trees on the second block of West Street, and on Calvert Street in Whitmore Park at the new music Michael Bush Pavilion hosted by Priddy Music Academy. Plus catch a movie at sunset after the festival on the back patio at Reynolds Tavern in Annapolis. The Free Entertainment includes: Weisman Park (outside near the Visitors Center) 11-1 The Johnny Monet Band 2-4 Harbor Lights Stan and Joe's Saloon Lot 12-12:45 Wulin Institute 1:15-2 Ta Thoi 3- 5 The Jello Boys 2nd Block of West Street 11:30-1:30 Brother's Keeper 2-4 Vince Borrelli Performances Whitmore Park - under the new band pavilion 1-5 Priddy Music Academy Bands Plus catch a DJ during lunch on the patio of the Graduate Annapolis Hotel. Be sure to also check out the new art exhibits at Nancy Hammond Editions, Whitehall Gallery, The Annapolis Collection Gallery, Tsunami, 49 West Coffeehouse, Winebar & Gallery and UMI Studio. Plus the newest mural in Annapolis located on the corner of Calvert and Northwest Streets (just 1/2 a block from Whitmore Park). The First Sunday Arts Festivals are conveniently located in downtown Annapolis on West Street and Calvert Street where FREE Annapolis Parking is available. The John Whitmore Garage at 25 Clay Street is right next to the festival and is free until 4pm or $2 afterwards. Calvert Street Garage aka State Garage located at 19 St. Johns Street has free parking all day and is located within a two block stroll from the First Sunday Arts Festival. We encourage our guests to be green and bring a re-fillable water bottle. Bottles can be filled with free fresh cold water inside the Visit Annapolis Visitors Center. Admission to the First Sunday Arts Festivals is free, so bring your friends and family to spend a day out on the town. Friendly leashed pets are welcome. However we remind you to consider leaving them at home as summer pavement temperatures can burn your pets paws. This fun artisan festival returns on the first Sunday of each month through November plus a bonus Annapolis Chocolate Binge Festival on December 8 makes it fun to visit Annapolis, Maryland. For those staying in town for the festival there are several hotels and inns in the Annapolis Arts District to enjoy (Reynolds Tavern in Annapolis, Graduate Annapolis, Hilton Garden Inn Annapolis Downtown and The Westin Annapolis).
