The holiday weekend will bring thousands to Historic Annapolis, Maryland to celebrate America’s birthday with July 4th parades and fireworks. The holiday fun will continue into Sunday in Annapolis with the cities most popular art event, First Sunday Arts. This event will fill West street and Whitmore park with 10,000 people on Sunday from 11am to 5pm to enjoy a free admission arts festival.

This is also your chance to see the new mural on the front of Tsunami that is currently the talk of the town. The mural titled “Agony and Ecstasy Lives Together in Perfect Harmony.” by Jeff Huntington. This mural is causing people to debate public art in Annapolis. Also next door at 49 West Coffeehouse and Gallery is a new art exhibit opening called “Art of Destruction by artist Walker Babington, featuring nudes, portraits and still life’s, rusted, burned, and etched into driftwood, car hoods, and more. You can meet the artist at a reception right after the festival.

What better way to celebrate America than to shop from over 100 artisans that make their art and craft locally. Whitmore Park on Calvert Street and the first flock of West Street will be lined with painters, potters, jewelers, wood turners, clothiers, glass blowers and more selling their craft.

Live Music will by on four stages. On Calvert Street at Whitmore Park and City Gate and on West Street at , Weisman Park and Stan and Joe’s. Bands will be playing from noon to 5pm. Some of the groups performing include Miss Ellie, Out of Many, David Baldwin Trio, KARMA, Johnathan Stone, and Good Measure.
For the kids there is story time by JNP Project in Whitmore Park plus face painting. Cafes and food trucks will be lining the event when you are ready for a break.

After the festival ends, the After Parties begin with Sushi Gospel at Tsunami, Art Receptions at 49 West, music on the back patio at Rams Head and a outdoor movie at Reynolds Tavern.

Admission is free to First Sunday Arts Festivals so come out and enjoy the day of art.
