A Fun Thing to Do This July 4th … Enjoy Annapolis’ First Sunday Arts Festival

Posted in First Sunday Arts Press Releases at 10:20 pm by Administrator

A Fun Thing to Do This July 4th … Enjoy Annapolis’ First Sunday Arts Festival … and it begins one hour earlier at 11:00 a.m.!

The Fourth of July … is a big summer holiday. Historically it marks the day this country gained independence from Great Britain, and it represents a day of national celebration with many outdoor events taking place. Independence Day is traditionally celebrated with firework displays, parades, fairs, festivals, picnics, and concerts in towns and cities across the country. Annapolis is a great place to be on July 4th and has many celebration events going on for Independence Day, including the First Sunday Arts Festival which begins at 11:00 a.m. – one-hour earlier than usual due to the holiday parade that will come by on West Street.

For five hours – from eleven until four — a portion of historic West Street above State Circle is closed to cars and transforms into a fun festival of live music, dance, art and crafts. The Festival, which continues around the corner into Whitmore Park, is free and a family affair for all ages. It’s the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon outdoors surrounded by talented performers, musicians, and over 90 booths of arts and crafts. Plus several of the West Street restaurants become outdoor cafes with perfect seating to watch the fun and people go by!

Live Entertainment on West  Street

· Juliet Lloyd Duo – accomplished young singer/songwriter who blends elements of pop, rock, and soul with standout vocal performances has appeared across the country and will perform — from 12-noon – 1:30 p.m. in Wiseman Park.

· Free Swing Dance lessons given from 1:30 – 2:00 p.m. – Wiseman Park

· Magician Jack Julius – over 30 years of performing around the world with his unique styles of magic, mime, roller skating and mingling to get others involved in the fun will appear – from noon until 4:00 p.m. in Stan & Joe’s side lot.

Live music and entertainment on Calvert Street in Whitmore Park…

Swing Dancing! · Swampcandy – Noon to 1:30pm at Whitmore Park

· Swing Dancing from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. accompanied by the Annapolis Junction Band –a 17-piece big band based in Annapolis since 1991 will perform

· Good News… the Whitmore Park events of First Sunday’s Festival will go until 5:00 p.m. We hope you can join the fun and festivities on July 4th for Annapolis’ First Sunday Arts Festival.

And why not stay for the Fourth of July Parade that will be going by on West Street following the Festival!
